This privacy policy explains what information may be collected when you use the site, how it is used, with whom it may be shared, how cookies and similar technologies are used, and what options you have regarding your own information.

Use of the site is subject to this policy.

Who is responsible for the information

The site is operated by Chao Mobile.

For questions, requests or enquiries about privacy and personal information you can contact us:

What information we may collect

As part of the lab and repair services, and where the technical condition of the device allows it, information stored on the device may be backed up - in coordination with the customer - in order to carry out the service. Depending on what is on the device, that information may include photos, contacts, files, settings and other personal information stored on it.

Access to information on the device, to the extent the service requires it, is made only for the purpose of the repair, the backup or the service that was requested, and subject to this policy and to the law.

If personal accounts are offered on the site in future, we may also keep the information needed to manage the account, identify the user, save preferences, show past orders and provide service.

This information may also be collected through third-party services, as set out below.

Giving us information, and whether it is required

Personal information is generally given on the site voluntarily.

That said, some details are needed before we can provide a particular service.

For example, without contact details we cannot get back to someone who contacted us, and without the details an order and delivery require we cannot complete the order.

In lab services, certain operations - including backing up information - may require technical access to the device, depending on the fault and the service requested.

There is no obligation to give information that the requested service does not require.

Giving information in order to receive marketing material and updates, if that option is offered on the site, is subject to your consent and to the law.

What we use the information for

We may use the information collected for one or more of the following purposes:

  • Processing, managing and fulfilling orders
  • Arranging and delivering shipments

  • Tailoring advertising and marketing, subject to the law and to your own settings
  • Managing and analysing business activity
  • Handling disputes, enquiries or legal proceedings
  • Meeting the obligations the law places on the business

We do not sell or rent users' personal information to third parties for trading in data.

Payments and card processing

Payments on the site are made through the iCount system and the relevant processing and credit providers operating through it.

Chao Mobile does not store the full card number or the card security code in its systems.

Payment details are entered and the transaction is processed through the relevant payment and processing systems and in accordance with their own security mechanisms.

The iCount system is also used to issue the accounting documents and receipts relating to transactions made on the site.

In order to carry out the transaction and issue the required documents, details needed for the transaction may be passed to the iCount system and to the payment providers - such as the customer's name, contact details, the transaction amount, the order details and any further information needed for the payment and for issuing the document.

Passing information to third parties

Chao Mobile may pass information to external suppliers, or allow them access to it, where this is needed in order to run the site, provide the service or fulfil the purposes of this policy.

These parties may include:

  • The iCount system and payment and card-processing providers
  • Credit card companies and financial bodies relevant to the transaction
  • Shipping and courier companies
  • Hosting and computing infrastructure providers
  • Providers of the site and data management systems
  • Google services and tools
  • Meta services and tools
  • Analytics, advertising and performance measurement providers
  • Information security and technical support providers
  • Professional advisers, accountants and lawyers, where required
  • Authorities and competent bodies, where disclosure is required by law

The courier company may change from time to time according to the needs of the business.

Some service providers may process or store information outside Israel, in line with their own infrastructure and policies and subject to the applicable law.

The business passes information to third parties only to the extent reasonably needed for the service they provide.

Contact by WhatsApp and by phone

The site may include links that let you contact Chao Mobile on WhatsApp or by telephone.

When you use WhatsApp, both the service and the information passed through it are also subject to the terms and the privacy policies of WhatsApp and of Meta.

The business does not control how these third-party services process information on their own platforms.

Cookies and similar technologies

The site uses, or may use, cookies and similar technologies.

Cookies are small files or identifiers used, among other things, to run the site properly, to remember preferences, for security, and to measure use, analyse performance and support advertising.

The site may use several kinds of cookie:

Essential cookies

These are used for the basic, correct operation of the site, including security, the shopping cart, the purchase process and remembering the actions the site needs in order to work.

Measurement and analytics cookies

These are used to understand how the site is used, and to measure visits, views, interactions, traffic sources and the site's performance.

For that purpose the site may use, among others, the following services:

  • Google Analytics
  • Google Tag Manager

Advertising and campaign measurement cookies

The site may use advertising platform technologies to measure campaigns, understand what people did after seeing an ad, build audiences and tailor advertising.

These services may include:

  • Meta Pixel
  • Google Ads
  • Other Google and Meta services

How these providers use the information is also subject to their own terms of use and privacy policies.

Managing cookies

You can manage or block cookies through your browser's settings, and through any consent controls shown on the site.

Blocking certain cookies may mean that some services or features on the site do not work fully.

If a control that lets you choose between kinds of cookie is switched on, you will be able to change your choice through it.

Advertising and marketing mail

As at the date of this policy, the business does not routinely send marketing messages to people merely because they used the site.

You can join the marketing mailing list through the sign-up form at the bottom of the site or by ticking the consent box on the checkout page. The box is never ticked in advance, and leaving it empty does not stop you completing an order or receiving a service.

Where consent is required to receive marketing content, joining is subject to your consent.

When consent is given we keep the wording of the consent as it was shown to you, the version of the privacy policy in force at the time, the time of the consent, the IP address and the type of browser, so that it can be shown that the consent was given.

You can ask to be removed from the mailing list at any time and at no cost, on the “Unsubscribe from the mailing list” page linked at the bottom of every page of the site, or by contacting us. The removal request is recorded as well.

Anyone who has received marketing content from us may ask to stop receiving it, using the unsubscribe options shown in the message or by contacting us.

Unsubscribing from marketing mail does not stop us sending the operational messages an order, a service, a repair, a payment or an enquiry you started requires.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as is reasonably needed for the purposes it was collected for, and in line with Chao Mobile's business and legal needs.

How long that is varies with the kind of information and what it is used for.

Information may be kept, among other reasons, in order to:

  • Complete orders and provide service
  • Handle warranty or service enquiries
  • Carry out and handle lab and repair services
  • Handle a backup made as part of a lab service, where required
  • Keep accounting records
  • Maintain business records
  • Prevent fraud
  • Handle disputes
  • Protect legal rights
  • Comply with the law

Information exposed or backed up during a repair or lab service is handled only to the extent providing that service requires, according to the technical circumstances of the device and to this policy.

When information is no longer needed we may delete it, make it anonymous, or keep it where there is a justification or a legal duty to do so.

Information security

Chao Mobile takes reasonable and accepted technical and organisational measures to protect the information in its control against unauthorised access, misuse, loss, alteration or unauthorised disclosure.

When handling devices in the lab, the business works to keep access to personal information the requested service does not require to a minimum.

That said, no computer system, website, electronic device or transfer of information over the internet can guarantee absolute security.

The business therefore cannot undertake that its systems, or information on a device handed in for repair, will be entirely immune to failure, loss, exposure or unauthorised access.

Your rights over your information

You may contact Chao Mobile about personal information held about you and ask to exercise the rights the Protection of Privacy Law and the applicable law give you.

Depending on the circumstances and on the law, such requests may include:

  • A request to see your personal information
  • A request to correct information that is inaccurate, incomplete, unclear or out of date
  • A request to delete information, where the law gives a right to that
  • A request to stop receiving marketing mail

To handle a request we may ask for reasonable details in order to verify who is asking and to protect their privacy.

The site may include links to third-party websites, social networks and services.

Using external services is subject to those third parties' privacy policies and terms of use, and the business is not responsible for their privacy policies or for how they handle information.
